Yes, they were near!
My 'old' perfect spot doesn't exist anymore. Because the farmer was old, and he sold it. So, I have to find new good spots.
This was a great 'find'. Having them near can be a tad overwhelming, because you do see all details, yes, but SQUINT and simplify.

Cows contain 'the highest highlight' often. Even in changing weather, 'overcastish', you'll see this.
It can be good to darken the sky a bit. Just to not have a 'dull' far away sky color, but to paint the moment you do see it darker (or paint it darker as an experiment) the effect: highlights will stand out more!

Rain and sun, but that's the beauty of using oils, the paint is unaffected (unless you'll have to start the painting in moist/rain, then the paint won't stick.

Work fast when it's about to rain: cover the total canvas in oil paint (doesn't matter which color: it's about getting the fatty layer on BEFORE the water gets in). When that's done you can keep painting in it, even with drops coming in. Yes the umbrella helps too.
