Sunset - Red Sun

Timing.

'Painting the sunset' is a broad term, yes, because let's say, in Summer, it's evening at 7 PM but the sun is still very high up, still whitish, and only slowly going to more golden colors. Here it's setting and disappearing around 9.30 PM in August & May. Around the Summer equinox it's slightly later. I call sunset all the sun-moments in between 8-9.45 PM.

When there are clouds, the golden-hours feeling sets in earlier.

If you wait for the red one you'll paint with THE MOST haste of course, all areas change fast. Sun, sky, ocean and sand change in color & value.
And after setting, it changes again.

TIP: If you are late and 'not getting what you want', then paint the sky & elements AFTER sunset. Pretty as well.
