Paintings in Oils by Roos Schuring.
Plein air painting, Images & Videos, Enjoy!
FIRST OFF: MERRY CHRISTMAS! - As always, below in these posts you'll find the palette or scene pics to make these blog posts more interesting. Also about paint, when snow & paint mix.
It's wonderful to paint the snow while it's snowing. As it is in sunshine. It's all good! But you'll need 1 or two umbrellas. One to keep the canvas dry and the second one to keep the palette snow-free. Bring the duct-tape to attach them to the easel. Another reason why an easel must be a sturdy one for harsher circumstances!
You can even see here, in the paint, that there's already snow mixed into the paint. Tiny holes form itself. If the paint really gets unusable I scrape it off the palette and squeeze out new. Can't be frugal with paint then..

• You can see in a painting when the snow or rain has mixed with the paint: tiny holes appear in strokes.
• As long as the paint sticks to the canvas, there's no real problem.
• Making it stick: make sure to cover your canvas with oil paint before the moist is there first.
• Once there's moist on the canvas, you'll need cloth, drying it, before you can apply oil paint.
• Working with thicker paint apply also helps, using knife & brush.
Normally I would take out the 'dead' sunflowers but I found the birds still enjoying them, of course, for their seeds. So that's a gardening tip :) don't prettify the garden too much before Winter sets in. Who knew :)
