Looking back to a year ago, you can see the progress. 
You can see yours too, if you paint, progress is visible always. As long as you create. Of course, it goes for everything. The blog is a big help in looking back. Some use their phone for that, folders of photos, it's recommended that you make it easy for yourself to look back: so you can be your own teacher in a way.

It looks easy, often it's not, BUT, the thing that progression does, (or time itself, time dedicated..) is that you'll create the confidence that you CAN finish a painting and be happy with it. (Or not, and you'll be fine with that too. We all create failure paintings, and these are needed too: In time, the PERCENTAGE of failure paintings goes down, good to know, and reason WHY you need to PERSIST.)

Sometimes a painting needs "fixing at home". Dangerous. We often screw up good parts. Maybe let it rest first and after 24 hours decide! (TIP!)
At home I shortened the figures on the shore to only an area of high dark. Sometimes you need to decide these things. Doubting at the spot would indicate that.

Fun to see in the video how much the sky changes in the time it sets. Especially with clouds, there will be light effects, coming and going. I pick the effect that I love the most. Sometimes ideas evolve along with the changes we can see, but often I'll stop and stick to the idea, and finish the painting while it's getting dark.
