Painting Cows on a Hot Summer's Day

Painting Cows on a Hot Summer's Day.

I love the effects of warmth and sun. Purple glow in the sky. The color of the cows in shade.

Now, visiting this blog post from 2016 again, it's 2020, and I can see how I wish some of that simplification back. When we develop, sometimes we'll just see so much more, and the tendency to want to paint all (all colors, all variations, all trees, all effects, etc.) is sometimes just there. When it overtakes the painting, it can break the painting.
Less surely is more. "Don't forget to squint, remember this." I say to myself :)

Yes, every year, every season there are lessons to be learnt. You can never go back. You can only develop onwards, and sometimes, looking back upon 'older work' can help you, that's what being your own teacher is all about. We each have our personal path, personal development 'plan', but you'll know better where to go next, or how to progress, when you also look back.
