Paintings in Oils by Roos Schuring.
Plein air painting, Images & Videos, Enjoy!
Nothing better than circumstances that create rainbows: Darks in the sky, colorful, and the rays of strong sunlight.
Water turns as dark as the sky, the reflections still stand out but contrast differently: both dark.
Where in the past I saw "grey" I see colors now. Nothing special, but that's why I paint all theses colors in the (grey) far away trees, clouds and sky.
The extreme darks can come and go: paint it fast, notice the value relations, so you can finish, even when it has passed. Make moments last.
The hardest part was to find the right value for the horizon tree-line. It needs to move out (be lighter than the darkest dark, yet it needs to contrast enough to the sky, and feel 'one' with the sky, and transition to the grass. I painted it ten times, the result became very likeable, all different grey colors, abstract, yet 'real'.
To the artists coming here I'll most often say "Color is the key to realism".
