Paintings in Oils by Roos Schuring.
Plein air painting, Images & Videos, Enjoy!
Better prepared. Coffee, hot water, gloves, hat.
When it’s white outside everything will wait and I’ll paint. And paint. And paint. These days can be tiring : )
And the cold, it is tough when you’re standing still, the muscles becoming cold ’to the bone’. But a hot bath reward after works wonders. Otherwise you’ll be cold all day.
Yes, it might not be as cold as in Canada, or Sweden, though I think you can paint with oils outside until minus 13 degrees Celsius, somewhat.
From minus 5 you can get tiny ice crystals in the paint, then it can help to use a bit of white spirit, or linseed oil to get a bit more ‘flowy’ paint if you need this.
Don't worry about the crystals getting into the painting.
Rain, snow, you can keep painting, and your painting will dry as usual. (When it rains/snows use an umbrella to keep the canvas dryish.)
Make sure the fat from the oil paint gets onto your canvas FIRST. Because when the water is first, the paints don't stick to the canvas when you try to apply it.
