Seascape Kiting After Sunset

After Sunset near the Pier.

A special one called 'Kites and Evening'. Here the sun is almost gone and the remaining light, bright bright light underneath this big dark blanket of evening clouds is such a great subject for paintings. The kite connects all parts together.

The figures draw in the eye, towards the horizon, up towards the sky and via the kite, the eyes have seen the total, back to the partly lit sand.

Yes, these topics must be painted fast! The faster you can be the more accurate the colors perhaps, because you'll need to see them to be able to mix them. At this time of day the colors change most swift.

The race, being in the moment, wanting to catch the moment: I like it better than having too much time for a subject (,because!) it most often delivers a better painting! :)

Of course this is something that works for me, it might be different for different painters, wanting different things! But if you do want to paint 'looser' it might be -and work- the same for you.
