Different!
This sand wasn't easily 'conquered', yet, it's of course always similarly solved:
by viewing what's there. If a color is there: you smear it on. And, then it's important to see the highlight colors + the shadow colors, and make sure these are all represented.
#321. SSU-2025 Seascape Florida Majestic Clouds - Good Morning 21x29 cm | 8.3x11.5"
For example here, the white-grey sand is highlighted both warm and cool, the sand in sunlight, warm, and the reflected sky, cool. (Close up here under!) The shadows in the sand, the footsteps, shadows from people and parasols, purple/blue and some ochres therein. Below more about the specific colors.
Here you see a close-up, the painted sand shows light yellows, pinks and light blue. The footsteps far away mix into these highlighted sand parts, creating a grey mix.
A literal mix of these paints used, the pastel sand colors, yellows, pinks plus purple and a tad ochre makes here (on the beach) a coolish grey 'overall feeling', sometimes a pinkish overall.
Of course, I never say 'I have the one and only answer' haha!!
Nature holds all answers. Nature shows colors. And we can only reflect our impression of it.
But, see for yourself: if you ever wonder "What is this color?"
Then: Notice ALL colors in the specific area, then, put (all) these colors down and intermix your color mixes for light and shadow straight on the canvas. Good to paint the far away more easily: often this = all combined (literal mix).
The near is often more defined: the highlights and shadows separate more. Texture becomes more important. The stroke, the line, the contrast between the two becomes stronger.
Here the sand went to the pink side in the early mornings. Unlit in the morning, a turquoise or lilac grey.

And with a sun that was setting, again a darker version was needed. One can write a lot more about this, wet sand, wet sand near, far. Water and sand intertwining. My last painting on the beach shows this:

And a BIG PS, I am returning to Florida/ St. Pete to teach Seascaping AGAIN! I'll first send out my newsletter and in a few days I can invite YOU in for this. I'll notify my email list first!
Your Seascapes will get that spark of life in, when you can paint them there: standing on the beach. Here I have an overview of the in-person/outdoor painting classes I offer, (and soon 2026 is added completely, incl. Florida II.)
Even if you don't live near a beach, you can book a holiday to a place near the ocean and start painting there.
